Educational Quote

The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than what to
think - rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for ourselves,
than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.

Intergrating Technology into the Classroom

What can Technology do for Education?

Technology in schools has change every moment, year, and time.  It has helped in so many ways to change education to be better suitable for children.  Children need great teachers and manipulatives to make learning easier. In an article, published by New York Times, the Kyrene School District classrooms are loaded with laptops, big screen, and software that teaches on ever core subject (Ritchtel, 2011). Technology in classrooms is useful, but for some schools it can be a bit pricey.  Even though some schools are pressed with money issue, education still can be fulfilled through technology with grants, proposals, and fundraisers.  Schools do need technology in ever way possible because it not only helps students, but teachers as well.

Schools do need technology because it not only helps the basic core subjects, but also keeps a child’s interest.  When work is done on the computer and it is involving games, it can reach out to anyone on the toughest subject.  For example, Hooked-on-Phonics has been one of the first technology aids and still exist today.  New York CNN has reviews that the Educational Testing Service found that computers have boosted among fourth and eighth graders in their math scores (Lee, 1998). Computers are made not to be easy, but it is a sequence of steps that are performed.  Once a child can master just turning it on, then they can provide knowledge for themselves. So many students become successful because of the help of technology through computers!  Parents are able to access their children’s grades, teachers have emails where it is confidential, and having PowerPoint has become the new blackboards.  Every aspect of teaching in technology has been performed for every grade level.  Computers not only access fun learning games, but recommended files to make storing easier for school officials

In disability classrooms, students with vision and hearing impairment have devices that can become an aid in their learning.  Even wheelchair access has made disability children feel more comfortable through having elevators, sliding doors, etc.   In another article, by Marshall Radskin, he emphasizes on assistive technology (AT) and how it helps any disability from cognitive problems to visual impairment. (Radskin, 2010). This article mainly discusses on AT and how it is useful in learning for disability children.  Books, blackboards, pen, pencils, lectures, and etc. do not work for everyone.  Students should not be forgotten no matter how delayed or severe they are in their development.  It is possibly to teach anyone, and disability children should feel more confident knowing there is something to help them learn as well.  For example, AT is useful when a student struggles with reading but has great listening skills, then AT is helpful with auditory books.  Learning is focused primarily all around school, so reaching out to ever student is a success story.

Technology has a wide range in helping schools through whatever is necessary.  Even technology benefits for the teachers, administrators, nurses, principles, etc.  Homework, school work, etc. all play a part in the learning environment through the world of technology.  Learning is only made difficult when it is not taught correctly.  Computers are one of the main sources to children accomplishing their goals.  Computers are necessary for every classroom because children need to know about technology so they can be able to adapt to the world.  Disability children should not be forgotten in learning, and technology aids in reducing their struggle.  Education is the main purpose for going to school, but technology makes it happen no matter what age, size, grade, or development a child has.  It is changeable in many ways and very versatile to making dreams come TRUE!

Technology makes learning fun!
